Real Madrid Remain Top Of Deloitte’s Money League
Spanish giants, Real Madrid, remain football’s biggest earners as they top Deloitte’s Football Money League report for the 10th consecutive year.
The La Liga leaders have recorded the biggest revenues in world football in 2014, with €549.5 million - which is an increase of €30.6 million compared to the previous year.
Despite missing out on Champions League football, Manchester United have surpassed Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona to climb into second spot.
The Red Devils recorded a revenue of €518 million, which is almost an increase of €100 million compared to last year’s figure of €423.8 million.
German champions, Bayern Munich, are third with a revenue of €487.5 million (€431.2 million in 2013), while Barcelona dropped from second to fourth place. Following a season with no silverware - the Catalan giants only increased their revenue from €482.6 million to €484.6 million.
French title holders, Paris Saint-Germain, sit in fifth with €474,2 (up from €398.8 million in 2013). Manchester City (€414.4 million), Chelsea (€387.9 million), Arsenal (€359.3), Liverpool (€305.9 million) and Juventus (€279.4 million) complete the top ten.
"The growth experienced within the top 20 has been remarkable,” said Dan Jones, partner in the Sports Business Group at Deloitte.
“Although only Manchester United and Real Madrid have gone past the €500m revenue marker so far, we predict that all of the top five clubs may reach that point by next year.
"Commercial and broadcast revenues are now more important than ever to clubs to enable them to compete financially and put the best talent on the pitch.”
