Real Madrid’s board of directors were allegedly annoyed with the club’s superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, after his sending off at Cordoba.
The 29-year-old’s red card, after kicking opposition player Edimar on Saturday, has reportedly not gone down well at Bernabeu.
Marca reports that the club’s bosses are unhappy about Ronaldo’s arrogant looking behavior as he left the pitch at the Nuevo Arcangel stadium.
The Portuguese kissed his shirt’s FIFA Club World Cup badge and appeared to be polishing it while the home supporters booed the Ballon d'Or winner.
A member of the board reportedly tried to calm the waters, as telling Marca: “he isn’t a machine,” and “you have to understand him.”
The club are reportedly aware that Ronaldo is going through a rough patch due to personal reasons, but that doesn’t justify his behavior.
It is understood that Carlo Ancelotti talked to Ronaldo after initially giving the Portuguese time to reflect on his actions.
Ronaldo will hear the extent of his suspension by the Spanish FA on Wednesday, but is expected to miss at least two games.
