Ronaldo & Messi Nominated For Prestigious Award

Cristiano Ronaldo And Lionel Messi Among Laureus Candidates

Real Madrid and Barcelona stars, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, are among the nominees for 2014 annual Laureus Prize.
Ronaldo won his third Ballon d’Or in Zurich last week Monday, after being instrumental in Real Madrid’s march to four trophies during 2014, while Messi was named the best player of the 2014 World Cup and also broke the La Liga and Champions League all-time goal scoring records, previously held by Telmo Zarra and Raul.
Should either player take home the prestigious award, they would be the first footballer to do so. Previous winners include Formula One driver, Michael Schumacher, golf star, Tiger Woods, tennis players, Raphael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, as well as athletic champion, Usain Bolt.
The two La Liga superstars will face competition from Moto GP’s Marc Marquez, South African swimmer Chad le Clos, boxers Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, as well as several other stars from the world of sport.
The winner will be decided by a vote among 47 members from the World Sports Academy and will be announced 15 April.
