According to recent reports, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is putting the final touches on a deal that could see Karim Benzema join the Reds.
With only one week to go in the transfer window, we bring you another episode of our new Crazy Transfers feature. Today, we look at English reports claiming that Liverpool are putting final touches to a bid that could see Karim Benzema come to Anfield.
Liverpool have been struggling to score goals this season, with the loss of Luis Suarez to Barcelona and Daniel Sturridge side-lined through injury, and Rodgers seems to have set his sights on Benzema - according to reports in the Daily Star.
It’s been reported that Liverpool have tried to the lure Benzema over once before, but were shut down by the Spanish giants, who counter-offered with a contract that has essentially tied the striker down for five years.
The Liverpool manager would have to move swiftly for Benzema should he want him though, as it’s also been reported that rivals Manchester United and Arsenal are also interested.
Rodgers seems to have lost confidence in current strikers Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert, and seems as if he would love to get a proven goalscorer onboard.
