Thierry Henry Retires & Becomes £25m TV Pundit
Former Arsenal and FC Barcelona star, Thierry Henry, has announced his retirement from football and reportedly signed a deal worth up to £25 million to become Sky Sport’s main TV pundit.
The Frenchman recently decided against a new contract with MLS side New York Red Bulls. His mega pundit deal allows to do his coaching badges and to prepare for a sentimental return to the Gunners.
"After 20 years in the game I have decided to retire from professional football," he said in a statement on his own personal Facebook page.
"It has been an incredible journey and I would like to thank all the fans, team mates and individuals involved with AS Monaco, Juventus, Arsenal FC, FC Barcelona, the New York Red Bulls and of course the French National Team that have made my time in the game so special."
The former striker, who made more than 700 domestic appearances for five clubs, scoring over 350 goals, will return to London in the first week of January and is expected to start his new job soon after.
"It is now time for a different career path and I am pleased to say that I will be returning to London and joining Sky Sports," he added.
"I will hopefully share some of the insights, observations and experiences I have learnt over the years with you guys.
"I have had some amazing memories (mostly good!) and a wonderful experience. I hope you have enjoyed watching as much as I have enjoyed taking part.
"See you on the other side..."
Henry has won 19 club trophies and one World Cup as well as one European Championship throughout his illustrious career
