English Premier League
Result: Chelsea 2-0 Hull
Date: 13 December 2014
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Chelsea strolled past 10-man Hull City in a 2-0 win at home in their Premier League clash on Saturday.
The Blues made a swift start to the clash as they took the lead only seven minutes in. Oscar was afforded plenty of space to work with on the left, allowing him to cross to Eden Hazard who rose high to power home a header.
The league leaders bossed possession for most of the first half but found it difficult to break down an organized Hull defence who were determined not to concede a second.
The Tigers' hopes of a possible equaliser were diminished significantly on the hour mark. Tom Huddlestone flew into a tackle with studs showing and was shown a straight red card for his efforts.
Jose Mourinho's men took advantage of their superior numbers and made it 2-0 in the 68th minute. Hull failed to deal with a corner kick, giving Hazard the chance to tee up Diego Costa who scored with a classy first-time shot.
With time running out, Mourinho made three changes in quick succession, sending on Didier Drogba, Andre Schurrle and Ramires around the 80-minute mark.
Hull did not look like they had the firepower to make a comeback in the last few minutes and Chelsea were able to see out the game in relative comfort.
