Leicester City march to historic title thwarted by resurgent Manchester United

Leicester City fans - both old and new - will have to wait at least another day after their team drew against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

City went into the game seven points clear at the top of the table and only three games left to play. A win would have guaranteed them the league title, won at the home of the most decorated team in English football history.
However, United are no pushovers and fighting their own battle for a Champions League spot, the Red Devils came storming out of the blocks, scoring in the eighth minute through wonderkid Anthony Martial before Leicester equalized in the 17th minute through Wes Morgan. With the game tied at 1-1 at half-time, Leicester looked the more likely team to break the deadlock but with United's topsy-turvy luck this season anything was possible.

The game went back and forth in the second half, with Leicester defending superbly and both sides creating chances without finishing them off. United had dominated possession but were unable to make it count. Although Leicester came out on top in the first 30 minutes of the second half, United's pressure began to tell in the closing stages of the game and Leicester shifted gears to defending and seeing out the game.
The away team copped a red card in the 87th minute, former United player Danny Drinkwater getting a second yellow for a light challenge at the edge of the box, but Leicester were able to close out the half and the match without further damage.
The draw leaves Leicester City eight points clear at the top and two games to play, with second-placed Tottenham having a game in hand.
Leicester can still win the title on Monday night when Chelsea host Tottenham at Stamford Bridge - Tottenham will need to win all three of their remaining games in order to stand any chance of catching Leicester.
And with a home game against Everton to come next weekend, Leicester will fancy their chances of lifting the Premier League title at home - before or after the game.
Manchester United on the other hand are now four points behind Manchester City in fourth place, but have played a game more. United's Champions League hopes seem done and dusted, while Leicester surely have just a week more - if not a day - before they can start celebrating.
