Cristiano Ronaldo: Sir Alex Ferguson Told Me I Was The Best



New FIFA Ballon d'Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo, revealed that his former mentor and father figure, Sir Alex Ferguson, always reminded him that he was the best in the world.
Ronaldo, who spent six years playing under Ferguson at Manchester United, says he thinks about Old Trafford often and has great respect for the The Red Devil's supporters.

Speaking at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, the Portuguese praised Ferguson for his efforts and also admitted that he missed the former Manchester United coach.  
"I think about Manchester United, the beginning of my career was there, that’s where I started. I know the fans are there supporting me,” Ronaldo said as quoted by the Mirror.
"I haven’t had a message from Sir Alex yet, but I speak with him often. He told me to keep improving all the time.
“He (Ferguson) also said: 'Cristiano, you’re the best, don’t worry about the rest', He’s fantastic, I miss him."
The 29-year-old won his second consecutive Ballon d’Or title last night in Zurich and has vowed to continue his attempt to catch arch-rival Lionel Messi.
Ronaldo made 290 appearances during his career at Manchester United and managed to score 117 goals, while assisting a further 65.
