Barcelona are reportedly planning to offer Brazilian star, Neymar, a long-term contract extension.
The Catalan club are said to have already initiated contact with the player’s father, regarding his extension at the Camp Nou, after he has become a pillar at the club, along with Lionel Messi.
Catalan paper Sport claim that, although Neymar has a further three years remaining on his contract, Barcelona are not in the mood to take any risks on losing their prized asset. They want him to extend his current deal to 2022 and are willing to offer him a big pay rise.
The player and his father are also reported to be excited by the prospect of the Spanish giants’ offer and a deal is expected to be agreed to by the end of the season.
“I hope to spend more time at Barcelona than the three years left,” the 22-year-old told reporters in Sao Paulo.
Barcelona are also looking to secure a buy-out clause for €190 million in the new contract, and if Neymar continues to improve the figure could be even higher.
Neymar has scored 14 goals for Barcelona in 18 appearances this season.
