Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has suggested that his new £32m signing Diego Costa is a better striker than other big names such as Radamel Falcao and Sergio Aguero, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Blues brought in Costa from Atletico Madrid this summer after he scored a superb 36 goals in all competitions last season to guide the Spanish side to glory in La Liga and to the Champions League final. The 25-year-old has previously found himself behind both Falcao, now of AS Monaco, and Aguero, now at Manchester City, at the Vicente Calderon, but Mourinho now feels his new signing is better than both of them.
“He went to Atletico and Sergio Aguero was the superstar, so Diego went on loan. Then, they brought in Radamel Falcao – and Diego went out on loan. He was behind very important players,” he said.
“When the chance came to go back, he showed he was better than the previous ones.” This will be seen as more mind games from Mourinho, with City striker Aguero playing for one of Chelsea’s main title rivals and proving himself to be one of the best players in the world in recent years.
