10. Romelu Lukaku – Chelsea to Everton, £28m
Having impressed on-loan with the Toffees in 2013/14, Roberto Martinez took the opportunity to sign the Belgium international permanently in a club record deal.
9. Ander Herrera – Athletic Bilbao to Manchester United, £29m
The first of what is now £131.7m of new faces for the Red Devils this summer, with the Spaniard finally making the switch to Old Trafford having been originally tracked by David Moyes back in 2013.
8. Cesc Fabregas – FC Barcelona to Chelsea, £30m
After a three year absence with his boyhood club the 27-year-old returned to the Premier League and has already been impressing for the Blues with his early performances.
7. Eliaquim Mangala – FC Porto to Manchester City, £32m
By the Citizens’ standards this has been a fairly quiet transfer window, although they did sanction a British record fee for a defender to land this Frenchman from the Primeira Liga.
6. Diego Costa – Atletico Madrid to Chelsea, £32m
Alongside Mangala is a striker who was also recruited by Jose Mourinho having scored 36 goals for Atleti in all competitions last term and has already scored his first two for the West Londoners.
5. Alexis Sanchez – FC Barcelona to Arsenal, £35m
Less than 12 months after spending a club record £42.4m on Mesut Ozil the Gunners were spending big once again when they acquired this Chile international from the Nou Camp.
In what is now being considered a fantastic piece of business by Mourinho the 51-year-old managed to get a whopping price out of PSG for this often inconsistent defender.
3. Angel di Maria – Real Madrid to Manchester United, £59.7m
Another United buy now and also a new British record as di Maria decided to end his time at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu to try and aid Louis van Gaal’s cause.
Part of the reason that the Argentine was forced out of the Spanish capital was due to the arrival of this Colombia international, who Los Blancos landed following his Golden Boot performance at the 2014 World Cup.
1. Luis Suarez – Liverpool to FC Barcelona, £75m
Top of the pile and there is some dispute about how much this deal was worth -with Barca saying £65m and the Reds saying £75m – but either way it is still the most expensive transfer of the summer.
