Nigerian football star: Onazi And Italian club Lazio In Big Trouble Over Contract

SS Lazio of Italy have come under scrutiny from the country’s football authorities over alleged irregularities in their contract with fast-rising Nigerian midfielder, Eddy Ogenyi Onazi.  Details of the report reveal that Lazio might be sanctioned by Italian Football Federation (FIGC) following irregularities discovered in the deal Onazi signed with the Rome-based outfit on November 7, 2012.

Aside the FIGC inquiry, Onazi’s contract renewal signed with the club is also being investigated by Italy’s Federal Court-National Disciplinary Section.

The report states further that, if there was a breach of the regulations, Onazi will also come under the hammer, alongside two Lazio officials and the player’s former agent, Kevin Fioranelli. The Biancocelesti’s sporting director, Igli Tare and Secretary General Armando Calveri have both violated Article 1, paragraph 1, of the CGS in conjunction with Art. 22, paragraph 2, of the rules of agents. On the other hand, Onazi might be punished for using Fioranelli as his agent when he renewed vows with the club despite the fact that he issued a mandate to another agent.

Also, there was a breach of conflict of interest after Lazio failed to disclose that Jesse Fioranelli, Kevin’s brother, was an employee of the club when the new contract was signed. Incidentally, another Nigerian youngster, Emmanuel Sani had earlier claimed that he was forced to join Salernitana of Italy and Biel-Bienne of Switzerland on loan after Armando Calveri forged his signature on the contracts.

Retired Albania international forward, Tare later tried to cut a deal with Partizani Tirana in his home country to have Sani play for the club, but the revelation of Nigeria 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup was smart to reject the offer.
